What is Relex?
Relex is the confidential workspace where Claude does your firm’s legal work without ever seeing your clients. It runs a matter end to end — client onboarding, a formal case ontology, drafting and redline, e-signature, and delivery — while every client’s data stays encrypted in your browser and the AI only sees labels like [Party 1]. Bring your own Claude, or run it standalone.
How does Relex keep client data private from the AI?
Client identities — names, IDs, contacts — are encrypted in your browser under a password only you hold (a zero-knowledge, sealed-box design); the server stores only ciphertext it cannot decrypt. Documents are de-identified in your browser, so the AI works on labels like [Party 1] and never sees real identities. (De-identified documents and drafts are readable by Relex to run the service — only the identities are sealed away from us.)
Does Relex work with Claude and Claude for Legal?
Yes. Relex works standalone, and it also pairs with Claude — including Anthropic’s Claude for Legal — over the Model Context Protocol. Connect by OAuth (no key to paste); Claude reads, reasons about, and drafts on your matters while client identities stay encrypted and only labels are shared.
Can I use Relex without Claude?
Yes. Relex is a full workspace on its own: its built-in case agent handles analysis and drafting in the browser. Connecting your own Claude is optional — it adds reasoning power, but Relex runs the matter end to end without any external agent.
Is my firm’s know-how used to train AI?
No. Your know-how is indexed into a private, per-tenant search corpus used only during your matters. It is never copied to a model, never used for training, and never shared with third parties. A connected agent can search it but never receives the library itself.
What is a legal ontology, and why does it matter?
It is a formal structure for a case — the parties, issues, claims, statutes, and facts and the relationships between them. It grounds the AI in your matter’s real structure instead of free-associating, so reasoning is rigorous and you and your colleagues can argue over a model you can all see.
